WORD IT - Drought

WORD IT is a site that issues a new word every month. Anyone can submit their visual interpretation of that word.

June's word was DROUGHT. I happened to be reading a book by Wilbur Smith, titled Hungry as the Sea written in 1978. One of the side stories was about the concept of towing icebergs to the Persian Gulf for cleaner cheaper water. It's sort of funny to read in today's environment.

Illustration Friday - wired

"Alex, I can't hear you." Ellie and her favorite playmate, Alex-the one brain cell dog.

Wired. Literally. This is my first ever attempt on my new WACOM tablet. I should have tried this earlier, then I could have posted this as 'Communication'.

Thanks.

Illustration Friday - 80's

The 80's - from Plaids to Parachutes.

My early 80's memories are of me hiding out in front of the old Coachlite Skate Rink when my Mom made me wear some plaid pants to school skate night. They probably don't even count as 80's garb as I was 3rd in line for the hand-me-downs. Later in the 80's, I was sooo cool that I proudly wore my parachute pants - ONLY at home. I wasn't quite cool enough to wear them in public. The 80's also saw the "Summer of Pants" but that's another story altogether.

Thanks.

Illustration Friday - Buzz

It's been awhile since I've submitted to IF. My intention was to always use IF as a tool to create new work but when today's word was posted I had to submit this. I just finished this job yesterday. It is for an educational program involving Racecars, Math and Science. It was a fun project and my first 'Vonster' influenced piece. I was and am inspired by his color palette.

thanks.

Illustration Friday - Safe

She thought she was SAFE
and picked up her pace.
Oh, but alas,
there was no glass.

inspired by the real-life event of my 2 yr. old falling into an exhibit in the Bird House at the zoo this past Saturday. The kids had just left the reptile house where they had been running up to the glass cases. When my daughter was first through the door, saw the railing and assumed it was just another glass case. Ooops! Dirty but unharmed, all it took was a pack of Care Bear gummies and all was okay. Kids. They keep you on your toes!
